This is my Roughneck Joe: Nuke Suit as a what if situation for the Mobile Infantry in Starship Troopers. Using a Nuke Launcher (sculpted from scratch based on images from the movie and the ones hanging in the Universal Studios lobby) this Nuke Suit can survive the effects of his own destruction. As the specialist/combat engineer assigned to the squad, his mission is to take out Plasma Bugs or bug infested tunnels. The Nuke Launcher has a flip-out site with readout, two-part removable nuke and adjustable shoulder strap.
His first line of defense after launching a nuke at its target, is his shield (a modified SWAT shield from Ultimate Soldier) is equipped with PISS, a particle impact sensor system, that senses the incoming radiation or acid wave and activates PEES, the pre-emptive extinguishing system. The four tanks on the back side of the shield feed a series of extinguishing jets. There are six plume jets on the front that create a covering cloud of protective material, a combination of liquid nitrogen and other classified decontamination chemicals. Two plume jets on the back of the shield protect the hands, while four aimed jets direct protective chemical back at the operator.
The Nuke Suit (a modified Buzz Aldrin from Hasbro) has a protective coating, a combination of Teflon and other classified materials, that helps prevent prolonged contact with contaminants allowing PEES to do its job. The helmet is equipped with four plume jets protecting the head of the operator. Aside from life support functions, the backpack (also modified from the Buzz figure, with the harness made from scratch including parts from a miniature pet collar) contains its own PISS and PEES modules. Two aimed jets direct protective material across the shoulders of the operator. This is engineer number five, assigned to the sixth Mobile Infantry division.
Protected from head to toe!
Shield in one hand, nuke in the other...
From here you can see the shields PISS.
From here you can see the PEES on both the back of the shield, and at the bottom of the backpack.
Notice the strategically placed plume jets, protecting all exposed areas of the operator.
Here is the Nuke Suit and Roughneck Joe in a combat position. If RNJ is caught in the open during a nuke attack, he can better his chance of surviving serious injury, by seeking cover behind the Nuke Suit. The best cover is a physical structure or natural formation. Other members in the Mobile Infantry squad should protect and clear safe passage to the target for the assigned engineer. The Nuke Suit is a valuable tool if used properly.
Take cover behind the Nuke Suit, but be prepared to defend as well.
Remember to leave adequate room and not get in the way.
Here is the Nuke Suit, Roughneck Joe and Sergeant Zim in a combat training situation. Sergeant Zim is showing RNJ how he can better his chance of surviving serious injury, by seeking cover behind the Nuke Suit. The best cover is a physical structure or natural formation. Other members in the Mobile Infantry squad should protect and clear safe passage to the target for the assigned engineer. The Nuke Suit is a valuable tool if used properly.
